All too often when people think about a vacation, they imagine a long excursion that takes them far away from their home. While long vacations to exotic destinations are certainly fun, there are many other ways to enjoy a needed break. In fact, you don’t need two weeks off and a passport to enjoy a much needed break from ordinary.

The mid-week treat

How often do you feel done with the week by the time it’s Wednesday? The harder the week, the stronger we tend to feel that mid-week slump. If you’re wanting to break up the work week with a treat, you can book a room with a view for Wednesday night. No making dinner, no running errands – you don’t even have to make the bed!

If your work allows you any flexibility, you can extend the fun by taking the entire day off or even just making it a half day. This mini-escape might be just what you need to break out of your rut!

Three-day getaway

You might not have any vacation time left, but there are usually a few opportunities throughout the year for a three-day weekend. Many people use this time to catch up on chores or hobbies around the house, but perhaps a mini-vacation is a better plan! Book a room that is near activities you enjoy, like fishing, hiking, or enjoying a live show.

Your extended weekend will feel longer if you stick close to home. So instead of logging more time traveling, find somewhere close and those three days will feel like more.

The celebration night away

Going out for a nice meal is one way people celebrate, but why not treat yourself to a night away from it all?  Dinner is great, but when it’s over life goes back to normal. If you book a  room for the night, you can not only have dinner, but you can swim, sit in the hot tub, relax by the fire – anything you want!

Of course, if you plan it right that single night can turn into two by booking your room before a day off.  This just gives you more time to celebrate!

Vacations are great, but they don’t have to be the only time you get away from it all! By treating yourself to some time away, even a night or two, you break up the monotony of everyday life. This is an effective way to lift your spirits and make some great memories.
